History

Leroy H. Feece, founder of Feece Oil Co., started in the oil business as an agent for Deep Rock Oil Co. in 1934 at the age of 27 with his wife, Edith.  They located the business in Batavia, Illinois, history_webwhere the corporate headquarters still reside almost 75 years later.  Leroy’s customer base in those days was diverse, as it is today, but consisted mostly of farmers and home heating oil.  By 1938, Leroy was operating a service station, along with lubricant and fuel deliveries.  Through hard work and honest business practices, Leroy had grown their small business, gross sales in 1938 was just over $30,000.00.  He never could have imagined 75 years later, in 2008, his grandchildren would be operating the business in the same honest, hard working manner, with total annual gallons sold well in excess of 30 million.

In 1937, Leroy and Edith had a son, Dale R. Feece and later a daughter.  By the time Dale was 14 years old, he was already working with his father in the family business.   They continued to work together until Leroy’s death in 1976.  By 1980, Feece Oil Co. has outgrown its location in downtown Batavia.   With the economy in recession and a young family, Dale and his wife Coleen decided it would be a good time to expand.  They built a new, 10,000 square foot facility in Batavia, IL for its offices, warehouse and a new bulk tank plant.  The risky decision turned out to be a good one, the new facility along with many hours of hard work, gave Feece Oil Co. the resources necessary to enjoy tremendous growth through the 1980’s and 90’s.  In 1999, Feece Oil Co. decided to expand once again & built its first satellite location in Minooka, IL.  This location housed offices, a warehouse & another bulk tank plant, doubling its capacity at the corporate offices in Batavia.  Dale stayed very active in the business until his untimely passing in the year 2000.  In 2004, Feece Oil Co. expanded a third time; they acquired an established business in Ottawa IL.

Today, Feece Oil Co. is being directed by the third generation of family; Dale and Coleen’s children, Jill, Mike and Troy.  Coleen still helps keeping them all in line & visits some of the original customers.   Today Feece Oil Co. operates a fleet of more than 20 delivery trucks and employs more than 30 people.

A Note from Mike Feece:
We strive to maintain the tradition of providing our customers with the best products and service available within our industry.  We sincerely wish to Thank each customer, vendor, employee and friend that has helped us achieve 75 years of success in the oil business.

Thank You Very Much.
